Our Parenting Role

Parents and children: an inter-connection that results in the growth and development of each. This is the spiritual aspect of parenting. The child seems so dependent and needy, that it is easy to see why s/he needs parenting, caring, guiding. Being a parent changes a person's life; whatever the reason the child comes into the parent's life - desire for a child, an "accident", or just following society's dictates. As parents, we need to have a clear idea of our role in bringing up children. This helps not only the child, but also the parent. Depending on what we want to achieve through our children, parents often focus on just one aspect: their physical development, intelligence, social development, or emotional development. This is influenced by our perceptions of our own strengths and weaknesses: we would like our children to have our strengths but not our weaknesses.

Our expectations are a pressure on them. We need to be aware of the need to balance the pressure so that the child is encouraged to expand, grow and perform as well as s/he can; but not get distressed and ill. We sometimes forget that children develop holistically, and in an interconnected way. Undue focus on one aspect can lead to inadequate development in other aspects; if the child feels the pressure as distress

Crystal Healing

Crystal healing is a form of healing that uses crystals or gemstones. The crystals are mainly placed on specific areas of the body called "chakras." Chakra is a Hindu term meaning spiritual energy. According to this teaching there are seven basic energy centers in the body, each having a color associated with it.

Some crystal healers place the same color crystals as the color of the chakras on the person to enhance the flow of energy. Crystals are said to direct the flow of energy to the person in a particular part of the body and bring balance to a person's energy. Ultimately, they are used to cleanse the person from bad or negative energy believed to cause an illness. Clearing out the bad spiritual energy alleviates the physical ailment. Crystals are used for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual healing. Not only do people visit "crystal healers", in some places, professional nurses are being trained to use crystals for their patients. Additionally, crystals can be worn, placed next to a person's bed as they sleep, and in some cases placed around a person's bath.

The originator of crystal healing is unknown. However, this practice has been around for centuries. People have used amulets, magical stones, and gems all throughout history (though mainly in the eastern cultures). It is now making its way into the western culture, primarily in the New Age and Occult movements.

What is Colour Therapy?

It is a complementary therapy. Colour is simply light of varying wavelength, thus each color has its own particular wave-length and energy. The energy relating to each of seven spectrum colours of Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet, resonates with the energy of each of seven M.Chkakras / energy centers of the body.
